Je staat op een soort surfboard en met een padel beweeg je jezelf vooruit. De grachten zijn best groot, dus aan het einde van de middag heb je een flinke workout gehad.
Dat het suppen een stuk duurzamer is dan een boot mag duidelijk zijn. Het kost alleen je eigen inspanning om vooruit te komen en hiervoor hoeft niets verbrand te worden op je eigen calorieën na.
Ook is een dergelijke plank heel makkelijk om aan de wal te leggen. Hierdoor kun je ook bij een terrasje of leuke winkel van de grachten af komen en even gaan kijken. Dat is toch iets moeilijker met een normale boot.
De verwachting is dat de komende jaren dergelijke manieren van watertransport alleen maar populairder worden. Niet alleen in Groningen, maar overal waar water is. We gaan gelukkig al steeds meer richting een samenleving waarbij mensen bewust bezig zijn met het milieu en dergelijke sup boards zijn een kleine, maar leuke bijdrage aan minder uitstoot.
